TIJUANA, Baja California, Mexico— Prior to late, on-site registration on Wednesday and Thursday at the Real Inn Hotel in Tijuana, 121 total vehicles have been processed as official entries for this week’s internationally televised Tijuana 21st SCORE Desert Challenge, Round 3 of the four-race 2017 SCORE World Desert Championship. Entries have been processed from 15 U.S. States and from 15 countries around the world.
The event is being held in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, with pre-race festivities in the Zona Rio area of Tijuana and racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday east of Rancho Casian on the southeast outskirts of Tijuana.
With classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads from 14 U.S. States and 13 countries so far, the unique format, multi-day, multi-lap race has vehicles seperated into five groups each racing two separate sessions for a total of 140.4 miles (six laps over a 23.4-mile loop course).
The spectator-friendly start/finish line area is located 2.3 miles east of Rancho Casian off of Boulevard 2000. All day racing, by groups, starts at 6:30 a.m. (PT) on Friday and at 8 a.m. (PT) on Saturday and Sunday. The marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division will start each day at 2:25 p.m. (PT)
The popular race will air as a one-hour special on a date to be confirmed in the U.S. on the El Rey Network and the show will also be syndicated internationally.
The colorful family-friendly Contingency and Manufacturer’s Midway will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Avenida Paseo de los Heroes, adjacent to the Real Inn Hotel, race headquarters, in the Zona Rio area of Tijuana.
The start order for the second session for all classes will be an invert of the start order from the first session with the exception of late entries who will start behind the first group in each class.
