     Vol. 7, No. 5 of the SCORE Journal is once again filled with numerous interesting worth-reading features, stories, captivating images, exciting videos and several news items.

    In its seventh year of publishing, the SCORE Journal this month recaps the season opener in San Felipe and previews Round 2 in Ensenada.

     The cover feature story captures in pictures and words the thrilling SCORE San Felipe 250 victory by Bryce Menzies by a mere 15 seconds over Luke McMillin.

      Among the features is the victory in the unlimited Class 1 by the mother/son team of Shelby Reid and Cody Reid in their sparkling new AWD Alumi Craft-Chevy open-wheel desert race car.

     There are also San Felipe break-out pieces on individuals and groups of classes led by the stunning Pro Moto Unlimited victory by Derek Ausserbauer while riding solo.

     Among the other features re on Jason Coleman, Chase Warren, Edgar Cota and Kristen Matlock, the first lady of SCORE racing.

     The May SCORE Journal also honors prolific age-group motorcycle race Jim O’Neal, 74, who will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s SCORE Baja 500 while racing again in the Pro Moto 50 class with Giovanni Spinali.

     The SCORE Journal digital magazine, reaching an average of over 1.8 million unique viewers per issue, with an average engagement time of over 27 minutes is a major element in the continuing media expansion that SCORE has implemented. The continually revamped SCORE website also generates an average of over 2 million monthly unique viewers.


     The SCORE Journal digital magazine’s October 2020 (SCORE Baja 1000 preview) issue delivered a record 1.96 million unique viewers/readers. The Spanish version of that SCORE Journal issue recorded over 484,619 unique viewers/readers.

     The SCORE website for the race week of the 53rd SCORE Baja 1000 in November of last year had a record 2.3 million unique viewers. The increase was fueled by the expanded live tracking, live streaming, the Weatherman audio feed and race info updates.

     During race week for last year’s SCORE Baja 1000, SCORE Facebook generated a record 4.1 million people reached with 421,832 facebook engagements, 50,843 likes and 8,521 shares.

    In Social Media Analytic for the 2020 SCORE Baja 1000 race week, data includes SCORE, driver, sponsor, team and media activity. Total social impact shows 2,4000 total social posts analyzed, 2.1 million total interactions, 6.1 million total video impressions and 40.3 million impressions on branded posts.

     On the SCORE website during the 2020 SCORE Baja 1000 race week, traffic allocation saw 2,033,219 unique viewers.

     And the SCORE Journal’s August 52nd SCORE Baja 500 (2020) preview issue was viewed by 1,663,880 readers.

     SCORE app on race day for the 2020 SCORE Baja 500 saw 114,900 total active downloads and 179,355 total sessions.


     The SCORE Journal features a Spanish language edition of the magazine on the SCORE website. Spanish-speaking individuals represent nearly 20% of the SCORE Journal unique reader base.      For the third straight year, the 2021 SCORE World Desert Championship races are airing on the ESPN family of networks. The four-races will air as specials on the World of X Games program on ESPN2.

     ABC first covered the 1967 and 1968 Baja 1000 races on the old ABC Wide World of Sports show with Jim McKay and again in the late 1980s with veteran motorsports journalist Sam Posey.
