All four 2021 SCORE races are being held on Mexico’s magnificent Baja California peninsula for the sixth consecutive year.
McNEIL LEADS SCORE OVERALL, TROPHY TRUCK SPEC
Atop the SCORE Overall point leaderboard as well as leading the Trophy Truck Spec class is Jason McNeil, 43, of El Cajon, Calif. A veteran SCORE racer, McNeil and his FiberwerX team have won the super large Trophy Truck Spec Class the last two races after opening the season with a sixth place in class at the SCORE San Felipe 250.
Driving solo in his No. 234 Geiser-Chevy, he enters the iconic season-finale with 370 season points a comfortable 42-point lead in his class for 2-wheel drive custom trucks and SUVs with stock, sealed V-8 engines. The near-identical little brother (except for the sealed engines) to the premier SCORE Trophy Truck division for unlimited custom trucks, Trophy Truck Spec had 34 starters in San Felipe and 26 starters in each of the last two races that started and finished in Ensenada.
In the 2nd SCORE Baja 400, presented by VP Racing Fuels, on September 18, covered the rugged 400-mile race course in nine hours, four minutes and 23 seconds with an average speed of 44.09 miles per hour on the tight, technical, silty and dusty race route.
At the finish line in Ensenada, after finishing on top of the podium for the second straight race McNeil said “It was an exciting race.  We started second and followed in Christopher Polvoorde’s dust until about Mike’s Sky Rancho and then I never saw him again, I don’t know what happened to him. We got around all the Class 1 cars and were fortunate to have clean air all the way to about race mile 330 and had about seven minutes on second place.  It was a great day overall. We didn’t have one flat tire, never had to get out of the car.  We hit a tree, we need luck on our side, and we had the Lord riding with us. We got a solid finish and this will keep us up in the points.”
POINT REGS
SCORE point regulations for 2021 have all four races counting for final points toward season point championships. Racers are allowed one substitute driver for the season but the driver/rider of record must either start or finish the season-ending SCORE Baja 1000.
SCORE points are calculated on a set amount of start points and finish points for each race along with a variable amount for placement points for finishers based on the number of starters within each class.
