Points System

2012 SCORE Desert Racing Series Point System Rules

  1. In order to be eligible for the year-end class point championship, the Driver/Rider of Record must compete in a minimum of two (2) events during the year. The championship point series will consist of the following races:
    • Laughlin Desert Challenge 1
    • Laughlin Desert Challenge 2
    • Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250
    • Tecate SCORE Baja 500
    • Tecate SCORE Baja 1000
  2. The championship point series will consist of the following three races for Motorcycle & ATV classes.
    • Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250
    • Tecate SCORE Baja 500
    • Tecate SCORE Baja 1000
  3. Only the Driver/Rider of Record as listed on the official entry form will be awarded points. Replacement Driver/Riders are not permitted under any circumstances.
  4. The Driver/Rider of Record and all team Co-Driver/Riders must sign a release form and obtain a wristband.
  5. The Driver/Rider of Record must operate the race vehicle at either the start or finish of the event in order to receive points.
  6. Only the official class results will be used in calculating championship points.
  7. A competitor who is disqualified will receive zero points for that race.
  8. The competitor with the highest number of points for each title at the end of the championship series will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie for any title, the competitor with the most first place finishes will be declared the winner. In the event that there is still a tie, the competitor with the most second place finishes will be declared the winner, and so on. In the event that a tie cannot be resolved, the competitor with the best finishing position at the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 will be declared the winner.
  9. The total amount of points that a competitor receives when designated in the official results as a finisher is the sum of starting points, finishing points and additional points.
  10. A competitor who is designated in the official results as having not finished a race (DNF) will receive starting points and additional points.
