SAN DIEGO—As a prelude to this week’s Inaugural SCORE Imperial Valley 250, Southern California desert racers Gerardo Iribe and Kory Halopoff along with the SCORE Rescue Team will all be in the SCORE spotlight during tonight’s SCORE Dirt LiveHD internet show. Round 2 of the five-race 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series, the SCORE Imperial Valley 250, will be held in Plaster City, Calif., 17 miles west of El Centro.
Celebrating its 41st season in 2014 as the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization, this week’s race will be taped for airing in the United States and Canada as a one-hour special on the CBS Sports Network. The first of a minimum of two broadcasts of the race is scheduled to air on Sunday, June 15 at 6 p.m. PT. Commentator for the national television show will be SCORE Trophy Truck racer and TV action sports commentator Cameron Steele. The race will also air internationally in over 100 countries through an international distributor.
During the 16th episode of the 2014 SCORE Dirt LiveHD season at 7 p.m. (PT) tonight, a special video segment to air will be a promotional package on this week’s SCORE Imperial Valley 250 produced by Spectrum Advertising of El Centro. This will be the first time SCORE has held a race in Imperial Valley and the first time SCORE has held a race in California since 1998 when it ended a long run of events in Barstow.
With several million viewers in nearly 100 countries in 2013, the SCORE Dirt LiveHD one-hour show is broadcast live weekly and the show is anchored in 2014 around the SCORE World Desert Championship series.
Iribe, who is originally from Mexico but lives now in Garden Grove, Calif., is from a family of desert racers and has raced in several SCORE open-wheel classes as well as in a VW Baja Bug. He will be working with King Shocks, the official Shock Absorber of SCORE, in a video segment shot in the desert near Barstow, Calif. The piece is about testing King Shocks for desert race vehicles.
Halopoff, from Orange, Calif., is also a long-time SCORE desert racer who is also from a family of desert racers and like Iribe, Halopoff has also raced in several SCORE classes for open-wheel desert race cars.
Members of the prominent SCORE Rescue Team will discuss with SCORE Dirt LiveHD host George Antill basic first aid tips and the necessary first aid supplies for desert racers.
The 2014 season of Dirt LiveHD includes numerous on-site interviews in addition to the shows that are broadcast from the SCORE broadcast studios in El Cajon, Calif., just east of San Diego.
The high definition shows also includes numerous award-winning video highlight packages, most produced by Mexico’s Cactus Films or San Diego’s Tempt Media.
Dirt LiveHD also goes on-site live with expanded event coverage during SCORE events. Live event coverage in 2014 includes the entire five-race 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series of two races in the United States and three in Baja California, Mexico.
