Biography

Making history as the sole competitor and winner of the Pro UTV Unlimited class at the 2017 SCORE Baja 1000, Earl Berg showcased remarkable determination by conquering the legendary 1,134-mile peninsula course in his Can-Am Maverick X3. The 63-year-old racer, originally from Canada but now based in Mexico City, completed the grueling race in 44:30:43, averaging 25.49 mph across Baja's most challenging terrain.

Berg's international racing credentials shine through his participation in one of SCORE's most globally diverse events, representing Canada among 27 countries at the 50th anniversary Baja 1000. His team included an impressive roster of Mexican co-drivers: Eduardo Tello from Mexico City, Sergio Aroyo and Jorge Macias from Los Cabos, plus his son Cody Berg from Canada, demonstrating the family's commitment to desert racing excellence.

Competing in the unlimited UTV category, Berg faced the ultimate test of endurance and mechanical reliability. His successful finish in the Pro UTV Unlimited class—where he was both the only starter and finisher—speaks to his meticulous preparation and unwavering determination. This achievement solidifies Berg's place in SCORE history as a proven competitor capable of handling Baja's most demanding challenges.
