A LAST-DITCH EFFORT | April 2026 Issue
Thirty days before the start of the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250, a fire gutted Kaden Wells’ race-ready Can-Am Maverick R at an event in the states. Instead of calling it quits, Wells went to work prepping his pre-runner to do the job. It wasn’t bolt-for-bolt as good as his race car, he admitted, but Wells says he figured it would get him through the first race of the season. Little did he know how right he was. Read More

WORTH THE EFFORT | April 2026 Issue
Jason Miller notched a win in the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 despite having had a bad crash two weeks before the race that left him with a concussion and a dislocated hip. He was pretty limited in what he could do in the race, but being the rider of record for the team, he had to make the effort. Although he wished he could have done more, he was able to bring the bike off the start line and to the edge of town, at which point he handed it off to Shane Esposito. He then took it to Eric Hardin to ride his stretch, then handed the Honda CRF450X off to Jim O’Neal for a ride. Shane got back on for another stint before handing things off to Justin Morgan to take it to the finish with more than a two-hour class lead. Read More

THE HIGH-SPEED CHASE | April 2026 Issue
There’s no doubt that the SCORE San Felipe 250 is the most brutal for the moto and quad riders. Absorbing all of the vibrations, jolts, and obstacles is hard on the body, but riders know this is part of the competition. The Pro Moto Unlimited class saw a great battle with the 2025 Champions now on the 1x bike, against several other teams also with talented riders. Tyler Lynn and Carter Klein took the Slamlife Honda once again, but added Sam Pretscherer, an Australian racer who recently won the 250 Pro National Hare and Hound Championship. Read More

The team started third off the line with Lynn on the bike first, and by Mile 40, he had come into the lead in class. “I finally got out of the dust and then was just sort of able to put it on cruise control and just ride the rest of my section,” he said. Lynn rode 150 miles and created about a two-and-a-half minute lead before handing the Honda CRF450X over to Carter Klein. Read More

Although David Payne won his very first SCORE Trophy Truck Legends race at the 2026 King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe, it was not the first time Payne had won an off-road race. MASTER CLASS | April 2026 Issue
The idea of racing in the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 began long before the event, but Rob MacCachren realized that pulling it all together to build a new Trophy Truck in time was going to be somewhere between difficult and near impossible. That’s when he decided to dust off his old 2WD Trophy Truck and got it prepped. “I still had my old truck which saw its first race in 2013, and it needed a lot of work to get it ready,” said MacCachren. “I put my head down and started getting everybody working on it. I gathered parts from 42-inch BFGs to a Kroyer engine, then got prep work by Collins lined up, to make it happen.” Read More
FAST COMPANY | April 2026 Issue
Some might think that, compared to the SCORE Baja 500 and Baja 1000, the SCORE San Felipe 250 is a quick and easy off-road race to win. Ask most racers, however, and they will tell you the opposite. For them, they see it as the toughest of all SCORE races, because it’s an all-out, pedal-to-the-metal race that can break vehicles due to the rugged terrain at high speeds in order to win. Read More
A FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE | April 2026 Issue

In front of him was Ricky Johnson in “Gus” Vildosola’s truck, a record-setting first time a SCORE Trophy Truck Legends had qualified first overall, to start the race. Right behind McMillin was Alan Ampudia, and the game was on. “We pushed hard early in the race, hoping to get past Johnson before we got to the rocks,” said McMillin. “He was going very fast but unfortunately hit a step-up in the line a little too hard, putting the truck on its side at mile 15. That put us first on the road, with Ampudia right on our tail. He had closed in on us and was probably about 30 seconds behind.” Read More
