TIGHTEST POINT RACES EVER Finishing its 46th year as the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization, the 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship saw the closest point races in the long and storied history of SCORE. Seven class championships were decided by four points or less, including three by two points and two by one point each. Those seven classes with the tightest battles to the end were SCORE TT Legend, the unlimited Class 1, Trophy Truck Spec, Class 10, Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction), Pro Moto 30 and Pro Quad. MATLOCK WINS OVERALL UTV The 2019 overall Pro UTV point champion and winner of his Pro UTV FI (Forced Induction) class for the second consecutive years is veteran SCORE desert racer Wayne Matlock. Matlock, 41, Alpine, Calif. had finishes of first, fourth, fifth and second in his No. 2971 Monster Energy Polaris RZR XP4 Turbo to earn his seven career SCORE season class point crown. Price had four consecutive solid second place finishes in her class in 2019 driving solo in each race which has given her the season point title in her class. Price becomes one of just a handful of female racers to capture a SCORE season class point championship in the 46-year history of the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization. SCORE Trophy Truck and the Trophy Truck Spec class each had eight racers in the top 25 in 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship overall points. Finishing second in the Trophy Truck Spec class and third in SCORE Overall points was SCORE rookie and second-generation desert racer Austin ‘A.J.’ Jones, 23, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.
