POMONA, Calif., USA—It’s time to drop the green flag for another spectacular eBay Motors Off-Road Expo presented by General Tires at the Fairplex, in Pomona, Calif., USA and SCORE International will once again be a major part of this weekend’s popular public trade show. The annual event will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT on Sunday.
The Off-Road Expo is a great gathering collection of off-road companies, parts, equipment, gear, action and experts. From desert racing, short-course and stadium racing to rock crawling, trail riding to sand sports, motorcycles and UTV’s, to camping and adventure travel, fans have the unique opportunity to meet and talk with the most knowledgeable experts in the off-road industry.
The colorful and extensive BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, exhibit area in Building 7 will once again offer desert-racing and off-road performance fans the opportunity to interact with many of the top desert racers in the world and legends of the sport while enjoying viewing the most radical motorsports vehicles ever developed from the past and the present.
COURSE REVEAL
At a 3 p.m. PT SCORE Media Conference on Saturday, SCORE will unveil the official course map for the 2022 SCORE Baja 1000, the 55th edition of the iconic Granddaddy of All Desert Races. During the SCORE Media Conference Jim Ryan, SCORE Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, will present current overall plans regarding the ancillary events that will be held around each of the four races in the 2023 SCORE World Desert Championship, celebrating the 50th year of SCORE International, the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization.
LEGENDS OF BAJA
As a special added attraction to the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit will be a SCORE Baja Legends autograph session on Saturday from Noon to 2 p.m.
Among the legends scheduled to appear are iconic former SCORE owner and Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee Sal Fish, legendary Hall of Fame racers Curt LeDuc, Larry Ragland and Rob MacCachren.
Other SCORE champion racers scheduled include Mark Samuels, Ricky Johnson, Christopher Polvoorde, Luke Johnson, Craig Scanlon and Cody Reid. SCORE also expects some other ‘surprise’ SCORE Baja racing legends as well for the autograph session including the popular Monster girls.
Available for both photos and autographs, the SCORE stars will be available from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
AMAZING VEHICLES
The SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit will include several prominent vehicles on display as well anchored by the vintage restored original VW-powered Sandmaster unlimited Class 1 open-wheel desert race car driven by Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Ferro (Class of 2019). Ferro won the SCORE Baja 500 four times and the SCORE Baja 1000 twice. He drove solo in the 1971 SCORE Baja 1000 to victory in that year’s race from Ensenada to La Paz.
Representing several current classes that compete in the SCORE World Desert Championship in the exhibit area will be one of the Terrible Herbst Motorsports Trophy Truck Spec trucks built by Herbst/Smith Fab.
Another feature vehicle on display will be a Chevy-powered Jimco unlimited Class 1 open-wheel desert race car from the stable of vehicles of prominent Wilson Motorsports of Long Beach, Calif. A three-generation team of SCORE desert racers, current drivers include Brad Wilson, Brian Wilson, Ronny Wilson and Kyle Quinn.
SCORE multi-time motorcycle champion Mark Samuels, will have his No. 7X Honda CRF450X motorcycle as part of the exhibit as well as the No. 1831 Polaris RZR Turbo as part of the SCORE Baja 1000 Exhibit.
Nick Hamm’s Warrior Built Foundation Sportsman motorcycle and Class 11 VW Sedan which salute and are comprised of several military veterans as drivers/riders will also be on display.
SoCal’s Brenthel Industries is also scheduled to have one of their race trucks on display.
SCORE LIVE
The SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit will be streamed live on Saturday on the SCORE website with very popular announcer Rat Sult as the host of the show with racer interviews and the live reveal of the course map for the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts.
SCORE MERCHANDISE
The SCORE Baja 1000 Exhibit will include a vast variety of unique and special SCORE apparel and souvenir merchandise available for sale including the special books on the 50th anniversaries of both the SCORE Baja 1000 and the SCORE Baja 500.
THE RACE
Nearly 275 entries, from 40 U.S. States and 20 countries are expected to compete in this year’s BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts.
The world’s most iconic, oldest, prestigious, toughest and longest continuously held desert race, this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will start and finish in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Dates for the race and race week festivities are Nov. 15 through Nov. 20.
The race is annually the finale of the four-race 2022 SCORE World Desert Championship, which is being held exclusively for the past seven years in Baja California. The race festivities will be held in and around the historic, fan-friendly Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in the heart of Ensenada and the start and finish of the legendary race will be in front of the Riviera in the heart of Ensenada.
