SCORE Baja 1000 Experience at SEMA Show this week in LV
SCORE MEDIA CONTACT: Dominic Clark, Dominic@SCORE-International.com October 30, 2022 Tuesday thru Friday Lights, Camera, Action as SCORE Baja 1000 Experience Shines at SEMA Show at Las Vegas Convention Center SCORE Baja 1000 Experience vehicle exhibit including vintage vehicles, current vehicles outside of new West Hall; at massive trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center LAS VEGAS, NEV., USA—It is showtime in Las Vegas once again as the vastly popular SCORE Baja 1000 Experience desert racing exhibit returns again this year to be among the features in this week’s annual SEMA Show to be held Tuesday through Friday at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Experience is a fitting prelude to November’s Granddaddy of All Desert Races, the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts. The SCORE Baja 1000 is at the pinnacle of motorsports as the most iconic, oldest, prestigious, toughest and longest continuously held desert race in the world. The legendary event will be held Nov. 15-20 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. WE’RE BACK After being indoors last year, the SEMA SCORE Baja 1000 Experience has returned outdoors like it was during its first five years (2014-2018) that it was part of the massive automotive industry trade show. This year’s SEMA SCORE Baja 1000 Experience will be located outside West of and adjacent to the new West Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The display will feature vintage vehicles as well as several current race trucks/cars/utvs/motorcycles that compete in the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship held annually in Baja California, Mexico. Another of the elements in the dynamic Experience is the colorful the official SCORE Transporter, the massive SCOREvision LED screen showing highlights of SCORE races as well as SCORE movies like Dust to Glory, the SCORE start/finish digital arch and the colorful SCORE Store with a variety of SCORE merchandise available. The location of the SCORE Baja 1000 Experience outside of the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. It will also be used as part of the site for the open-to-the public, end-of-show extravaganza called SEMA Ignited on Friday evening (Nov. 4). SEMA SHOW ITSELF The SEMA Show is the premier annual trade show geared to help small businesses thrive and succeed. The trade-only event enables automotive specialty equipment manufacturers to display alongside automotive manufacturers to debut new, innovative products, and connect with industry buyers from all over the world. The four-day event consistently attracts more than 161,000 attendees, including: 3,300 media representatives from both trade and consumer outlets, 2,400 exhibiting companies and representatives from more than 140 countries outside the United States. SPECIAL DISPLAYS Nearly 10 vehicles, from the past and the present, will be on display in the SEMA SCORE Baja 1000 Experience, including an original SCORE Trophy Truck from the early 1990s, a vintage unlimited Class 1 open-wheel desert race car, a current super star SCORE Trophy Truck, a current Trophy Truck Spec, a Pro UTV, a venerable Class 11 stock VW sedan, and unlimited Class 1 car, two elaborate pre-run trucks and a SCORE race motorcycle. Vehicles will include one of the original SCORE Trophy Trucks driven by brothers Dave and Paul Simon, the unlimited Class 1 Sandmaster driven by Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Famer Bobby Ferro, the No. 1 SCORE Trophy Truck of off-road racing’s G.O.A.T. Rob MacCachren, a Terrible Herbst Motorsports Trophy Truck Spec vehicle, Cameron Steele’s Pro UTV, 2022 SCORE Overall Point leader Christopher Polvoorde’s pre-runner truck, Cameron Steele’s Pro UTV, a Collins Motorsports vintage SCORE Class 11 stock VW Sedan, Mark Frye’s Class 1 open-wheel desert race car, a Steve Olliges pre-runner truck and Michael Gaughan’s magnificent vintage Dodge Ram Charger pre-runner SUV. The countries entered so far are United States, U.S. Territory Puerto Rico, host country Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, India, Japan, New Zealand, Peru and Spain. GRAND MARSHAL—SCOT HARDEN SCORE has announced that the Grand Marshal for the BFGoodrich Tires 55th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, will be Hall of Fame SCORE motorcycle champion Scot Harden. Harden, 66, born and raised in Las Vegas and currently living in Menifee, Calif., is a legendary professional desert motorcycle racer with a 50-year career as a world champion racer and motorcycle industry executive. In his racing career Harden captured two SCORE Baja 1000 overall victories, three SCORE Baja 500 wins, two wins in the SCORE Parker 400, one Mexicali 300 win and he also won the 1979 SCORE Pro Moto Unlimited (Class 22) season point championship. In addition, he has numerous overalls at other major desert events, In international competition Harden is a three-time International Six-Day Enduro (ISDE) medalist, earning a gold, silver and bronze in the early 1980s. In 1987 he became the first America to win a North African Raid Rallye winning the Djerba Rally in Tunisia. He later led the KTM/Redbull US Dakar effort in 2004/05 as Team Mgr. and rider. Harden’s impact on motorcycling is not limited to racing as he has also held sales and marketing executive positions at Husqvarna, KTM, BMW, and Zero Motorcycles. As a result of his illustrious career, he has been inducted into three halls of fame—the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame in 2008, the Trailblazers HOF in 2020 and the Hot Shoe HOF in 2020.
