SCORE Announces 2016 Schedule

The announcement was made at the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo being held through Sunday at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. The biggest change for the 2016 race season will be the new Bud Light SCORE Desert Challenge, presented by Rosarito Beach, in September. Being held in Rosarito, classes will be split into groups, each class will run the race split into equal parts run on two days with racing on Friday night, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning on Sept. 16-18. “We are constantly pursuing our vision with the SCORE World Desert Championship and the 2016 schedule reflects our commitment to grow SCORE beyond its own limits to a new level of impact in the motorsports world,” said Roger Norman, CEO and President of SCORE International. “Mexican races are the cornerstone of SCORE and to have all five races South of the border for the first time in SCORE history is an honor and a privilege that will add immeasurably to the SCORE Baja racing legacy.” SCORE has also announced that final negotiations are being completed to again televise the entire SCORE World Desert Championship series nationally on the CBS Sports Network and internationally through syndication. Norman continued, “With the diligence and creativity of award-winning BCII TV, SCORE has had a continuing viable domestic television package with the CBS Sports Network as our partner as well as with our expanding international syndication platform. When we finalize our 2016 television package it will continue to move SCORE up the visibility ladder with viable and sustainable programming.” SCORE International will be celebrating 2016 with a five-race series that features competition for Pro and Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads. 2016 SCHEDULE Launching the 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship series schedule will be the first of the three original SCORE Baja races: Round 1 will be the 30th Bud Light SCORE San Felipe 250, Feb. 25-28 in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. Round 2 will be the 2nd Bud Light SCORE Baja Sur 500 on April 14-17. Marking the second time a SCORE Baja race has been held entirely in Baja California Sur, it will start and finish in 2016 in La Paz, near the southern tip of Baja on the east side of the peninsula along the Sea of Cortez. Round 3 will be the 48th Bud Light SCORE Baja 500, June 1-5, in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Round 4 will be the Bud Light SCORE Desert Challenge, presented by Rosarito Beach, Sept. 14-18 in Rosarito Beach, Baja California Norte. It will be the first SCORE race in Rosarito with classes split into groups running multiple laps on a 15-16—mile course, split into two parts. Racing will be held under the lights on Friday, morning and evening on Saturday and morning on Sunday, with each class running its race split evenly over two days. Round 5 will be the 49th Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000, Nov. 16-20. The most recognized name of all desert races, it will start and finish in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. 2016 POINT TITLES In order to earn a 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship class point title, SCORE has announced that racers will have to start a minimum of four of the five races. Further one of the four races is the 49th Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000. A racer’s best four finishes will be used to tabulate the final class point standings. More 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship news 2016 DUST 2 GLORY A major announcement made Saturday at the Off-Road Expo by SCORE was that noted Hollywood director Dana Brown will return to the desert to film Dust2Glory. Dust2Glory will cover the entire 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship, documenting the journey taken by many SCORE racers and SCORE teams on the road to the SCORE Baja 1000. The new film will be released in 2017 in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the SCORE Baja 1000. 2016 CARBON TV SCORE also announced that it has reached an agreement with the Carbon Media Group to distribute all of the SCORE television race broadcasts, short form video series and archival race programs on a dedicated SCORE channel on Carbon TV beginning in 2016. Carbon Media Group is one of the 15 largest digital sports properties in North America, and the largest distributor of outdoor and adventure sports and lifestyle programming in the country. All of SCORE’s television race broadcasts that currently air on the CBS Sports Network in the U.S. and ESPN internationally will now have a second window of exposure 60-days after the TV premiers on the SCORE channel on Carbon TV. This will allow SCORE’s global fan base to watch the SCORE World Desert Championship online at no cost.
