 SCORE TROPHY TRUCK (Unlimited Custom Trucks) 

ALAN AMPUDIA, No. 1 (First in class. First overall.) - - That was insane. All day battling with Tavo. We caught up to him at checkpoint one and we just had to keep the truck moving, no stopping. Then Luke caught us in the pits. But I knew we just had to stay in his dust. Then he got a flat and I thought I was going to pass him, but then I messed up on a rock and it pushed us a lane left so I had to back up. So he re-racked and pulled out right in front of us. We were battling so hard and the converter started overheating because we were sending it in the whoops. So Luke got 30-40 seconds ahead. Then we clipped a rock and exploded another tire. I saw it but I thought I was going to miss it. And thought that was going to be the race but then we got to the corner and he was changing a flat too. He took off before me so we needed to stay within a minute of him so I just sent it. I don’t think I missed any VCPs so hopefully we got the win.

 

Fue una locura. Todo el día luchando con Tavo. Lo alcanzamos en el checkpoint uno y solo teníamos que mantener el truck en movimiento, sin parar. Entonces Luke nos alcanzó en los pits. Pero sabía que teníamos que seguirle el polvo. LUKE MCMILLIN, No. 83 (Second in class. Second overall.) - - It was a fun day. We had a good run. We got shuffled back at the beginning and lost some track time and a couple positions, but made it all back up and kept pushing. We did have two flat tires that cost us some time. The truck was great, solid, fast. I was very happy with it. It was a fun day and great race course. Thank you to SCORE for putting it on.

ROB MACCACHREN, No. 11 (Third in class. Third overall.) - - It was a super fast pace from the start. Everyone that qualifies in the top ten up there hauls the mail. We ran strong. We wanted a good finish, make sure we got to the finish line. We struggled with the truck a little last year so we have done some testing in the off season. We are making improvements and things are getting better. We are pushing as hard as we can. I want to thank Bobby Patton and Fastball Racing and BFGoodrich Tires. It was great. We are happy.

 

Fue un ritmo rapidísimo desde el principio. Todos los que se clasificaron entre los diez primeros se llevaron el premio. Corrimos con fuerza. TAVO VILDOSOLA, No. 21 (Sixth in class. Sixth overall.) - - It was a rough day. We stayed out front until about race mile 170 and then had our third flat of the day and that is when both Luke and Alan got by us. It was a very rough course, very demanding. I don’t think we got a top three finish but hopefully we snuck in the top five. The truck was good.

BRYCE MENZIES, No. 7 (Eighth in class. Eighth overall.) - - Rough day. We lost the front drive around race mile 30 and then it was just rough. We didn’t have the right set up. Pushed where we could. One of those days we haven’t had in a long time where people were passing me. But that is part of racing. We had issues but made the best of it and made it to the finish. We got to do what we have to do for the Championship. We will see you at the SCORE Baja 500.

CAMERON STEELE, No. 16T (First in class. Eleventh overall.) - - It was good. We had our little problems along the way, but also had an unusual brake issue. That costs us a lot of time. We heard we were in the top five but we couldn’t push any harder due to the brake issue. But hopefully we got the win in this new 2WD class.

 

Estuvo bien. Tuvimos algunos problemillas por el camino, pero también tuvimos un problema inusual con los frenos. Eso nos costó mucho tiempo. Supimos que estábamos entre los cinco primeros, pero no pudimos esforzarnos más debido al problema con los frenos. CHAD BROUGHTON, No. 2T (Second in class. Fourteenth overall.) - - It was almost a perfect race. We had one flat and I think that is going to be what cost us the difference between first and second, which is a bummer. We ran a smooth race, ran our own race all day. At race mile 60, we were going to do a driver switch, but since we were in the hunt, we stayed in. We stayed out of dust and tried to just be clean. For San Felipe, it was still rough. We lost both our spares. We were all over the place.

 

Fue una carrera casi perfecta. Tuvimos una ponchada y creo que eso nos costó la diferencia entre el primer y el segundo puesto, lo cual es una lástima. Corrimos sin problemas, corrimos nuestra propia carrera todo el día. En la milla 60, íbamos a hacer un cambio de piloto, pero como estábamos en la contienda, nos mantuvimos. TIM HERBST, No. 19T (Third in class.) - - We had a good run today other than a flat tire. We lost a driveline about 30 miles out and had to change that. Other than that, a pretty clean race. It was a fast, fast San Felipe race. It was rough and fast, and, as usual, it takes a toll on stuff.

 

Tuvimos una buena carrera hoy, salvo por una ponchada. Perdimos una transmisión a unos 48 kilómetros y tuvimos que cambiarla. Por lo demás, una carrera bastante limpia. Fue una carrera muy rápida en San Felipe. Fue dura y rápida, y, como siempre, eso pasa factura.

 

SAM BALDI, No. 82T (Fifth in class. Twentieth overall.) - - That was a good one. San Felipe never disappoints. It was a beauty. The whoops were epic today. We conquered them. We are here. We got two flats and got passed by some guys. That put us back but the truck ran good.

GUSTAVO VILDOSOLA SR, No. 1L (First in class. Ninth overall.) - - It was a great race. We had a very good run. Got one right front flat. That was it all day. I am very happy to be here. It was a pleasure to be the Grand Marshall. And then the opportunity to win. It doesn’t get much better. It was a great day. It was rough and fast, as usual. Very challenging but a lot of fun.

 

Fue una gran carrera. Hicimos una muy buena carrera. Nos ponchamos una vez. Eso fue todo el día. Estoy muy contento de estar aquí. Fue un placer ser el Gran Mariscal. Y luego la oportunidad de ganar. DAVID PAYNE, No. 61L (Second in class.) - - It went really well. We had some struggles finishing, so finishing today was our number one goal. We got two flats and I was hard on the brakes. I am just happy to be here at the end. For San Felipe, our truck is good. There are some gnarly rocks and I loved it. I did a lot of work to get here and we will put more work in for the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Salió muy bien. Tuvimos algunas dificultades para terminar, así que terminar hoy era nuestro objetivo principal. Nos ponchamos dos veces y frené con fuerza. Estoy contento de haber llegado al final. ADAM PFANKUCH, No. 168 (First in class. DOR-CODY REID. Sixteenth overall.) - - It was a truck course, very rough, very technical, but we held our own. We had a couple of flat tires. Deserved. But that is what it takes to lead up front. All-in-all a great day. 

 

Era un circuito para los trucks, muy accidentado y técnico, pero aguantamos bien. Tuvimos un par de ponchadas. Merecidas ambas. Pero eso es lo que se necesita para liderar. En resumen, un gran día.

 

MORGAN LANGLEY, No. 50 (Second in class. Morgan Langley started and drove to race mile 90. Paul Keller drove from race mile 90 to the finish.) - - CO-DRIVER PAUL KELLER said: Pretty clean run. The course was extremely rough. Typical San Felipe. Sand, rocks and whoops. Never ending. It is great to get a finish. This is our first race back. We are looking forward to the rest of the races this season.

 

Una carrera bastante limpia. La ruta fue extremadamente accidentada. Típico de San Felipe. Arena, rocas y whoops. Nunca terminaban. Es genial terminar. Esta es nuestra primera carrera de regreso. Tenemos muchas ganas de que lleguen las demás carreras de la temporada.

 

BRENDAN GAUGHAN, No. 162 (Fourth in class.) - - Not the San Felipe race we wanted today. We hit Zoo road and blew a CV. I am an old buggy dork and we run with CVs. But thanks to a spectator, and this is what racing in Mexico is all about, a spectator pulled us down to where our crew was and we changed the CV in about 30 minutes. Thanks to Collins Motorsports for getting us going. We got it to the finish line. Adam Wick has been doing my motors for about a year now. We tried to hurt it and it is still moving. Thank you to SCORE for a great course, as usual. They put on one hell of a course. San Felipe and Whoop should be side by side in the dictionary. It was brutal. That is what makes it special though. Sounds like we salvaged a fourth day, which is good for points. Keeps us alive.

 

No fue la carrera de San Felipe que queríamos hoy. Llegamos a Zoo Road y se nos reventó una CV. Soy un viejo fanático de los buggies y corremos con CV. Pero gracias a un espectador, y de eso se trata correr en México, nos ayudó a llegar donde estaba nuestro equipo y cambiamos la CV en unos 30 minutos. Gracias a Collins Motorsports por ayudarnos. Llegamos a la meta. Adam Wik lleva casi un año arreglando mis motores. Intentamos dañarlo y sigue funcionando. Gracias a SCORE por una ruta fantástica, como siempre. Hicieron un circuito increíble. San Felipe y Whoops deberían estar uno al lado del otro en el diccionario. Fue brutal. Pero eso es lo que lo hace especial. Parece que salvamos un cuarto día, lo cual nos da puntos. Nos mantiene con vida.

 

  TROPHY TRUCK SPEC (unlimited Truck/SUV, stock, sealed engines)

JORGE SAMPIETRO, No. 297 (First in class. Tenth overall.) - - I drove the whole race, I started and thanks to God we’re here at the finish line. The course was really fast. We thought it was going to be a bit tiring, but the day flew by. As always, the San Felipe terrain is really difficult. A terrain full of a lot of whoops and rocks. Fortunately, with BFGoodrich, we had no flats. We hit a lot of rocks, but I think we have the correct tires, and we’re really happy. Mechanically, we had an issue with the accelerator, something electrical that we will have checked out, but we didn’t lose a lot of time, maybe seconds. It was a really spectacular day for us.

 

Maneje toda la carrera, Yo arranque y gracias a dios estamos aquí en la meta. La pista fue muy rápida, creíamos que iba ser un poco cansado pero el día se nos pasó volando. Como siempre San Felipe es un terreno muy difícil es un terreno con muchos whoops y mucha piedra. Afortunadamente con las llantas BFGoodrich no tuvimos ninguna ponchada, le pegamos a muchas piedras, pero yo creo que tenemos las llantas correctas y estamos muy felices. Mecánicamente teníamos un detallito con el acelerador, algo eléctrico que lo vamos a revisar, pero no perdimos mucho tiempo fueron unos segundos y ya. pero fue un día muy espectacular para nosotros.

 

JUSTIN DAVIS, No. 285 (Second in class. Twelfth overall.) - - It was not too eventful. We got into someone’s door and that didn’t help our exhaust issue. Our converter was a little off, it was our backup. so we had to make do with what we had. I think we took second so we will take that and go on to the SCORE Baja 500.

 

No hubo muchos incidentes. Chocamos con la puerta de alguien y eso no solucionó el problema del escape. Nuestro convertidor estaba un poco desfasado; era nuestro repuesto, así que tuvimos que arreglárnoslas con lo que teníamos. Creo que quedamos segundos, así que lo aprovecharemos y seguiremos adelante para la SCORE Baja 500.

 

ARNOLDO GUTIERREZ JR., No. 264 (Third in class.) - - I did the whole race on my own. We truly didn’t have any problems. At the beginning, it was a battle with a lot of cars and a lot of dust but we intended to follow all of our lines and get no flats. We got no flats. They told us we didn’t have a jack so we wanted to be more cautious . When they told us that we were in the top four,  the last forty miles we just gave it our all. If we got a flat it was a risk we were willing to take. I haven’t gotten off to check the car but it feels like it can do another 200 miles. We will see you at the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Yo me avente toda la carrera la verdad que no tuvimos ningún problema. Al principio batallando con mucho carro mucho polvo pero intentamos pegarle a todas nuestras líneas y no ponchar nos. No nos ponchamos, nos dijeron que no teníamos jack so queríamos ser mas cuidadosos. Cuando ya nos dijeron que ya veníamos en los primeros 4 las ultimas cuarenta Milas  ya veníamos a todo. ya la verdad si nos ponchá bamos pues era un riesgo que estábamos pasando. No me eh bajado pero el carro se siente que puede correr otras 200 Milas. Nos vemos en la SCORE Baja 500. 

 

BRYCE SWAIM, No. 242 (Fourth in class. Thirteenth overall.) - - It was great. It was fast. It was dusty. It was windy. It was rocky. It was everything. And bumpy. It was San Felipe. The truck is good. I don’t know what the body looks like. We should call it a landscaping crew. The course was good. Difficult. You had to be on your A-game so as to not mess anything up. We have all kinds of bushes in here. No flats. These BFGoodrichs don’t get flats.

 

Fue genial. Fue rápido. Había polvo. Había viento. Era rocoso. Era de todo. Y baches. Era San Felipe. La camioneta está bien. No sé cómo es la carrocería. Deberíamos llamarlo equipo de paisajismo. El circuito estaba bien. Difícil. Había que estar en plena forma para no estropear nada. Aquí hay un montón de arbustos. Nada de pinchazos. Estos BFGoodrich no se pinchan.

 

JASON MCNEIL, No. 234 (Eighth in class.) - - Our race started off good. We were out front for the first hundred miles or so. Maybe around 120 there was a cattle guard that we had to squeeze through and the AWD trucks made it really soft there and we actually got stuck there. While we were getting pulled out by Davis, Sampietro got by. Getting pulled out ripped off the bumper so we had to make repairs. Then we started catching us and caught Davis. Then we started running out of fuel, like something is wrong with the pickup. With five miles to go, some spectators had to give us more fuel. Just bad luck. I’ve never won here in San Felipe. I’ve done well, got four second-place finishes. It just always seems to bite me in the ass. But it was a fun day for sure.

 

Nuestra carrera empezó bien. Estuvimos al frente durante los primeros 160 kilómetros aproximadamente. Alrededor de los 200 kilómetros, tuvimos que pasar por una barrera de ganado y las camionetas con tracción total la hicieron muy blanda, así que nos quedamos atascados. Mientras Davis nos adelantaba, Sampietro nos adelantó. Al adelantarse, el parachoques se arrancó, así que tuvimos que repararlo. Luego empezamos a alcanzarnos y alcanzamos a Davis. Luego nos quedamos sin combustible, como si la camioneta tuviera algún problema. A ocho kilómetros del final, algunos espectadores tuvieron que darnos más combustible. Mala suerte.   PRO UTV OPEN (two-seat unlimited UTV open-displacement) 

BROCK HEGER, No. 1896 (First in class.) - - I started third in my class and got up front super early. Had clean air in the beginning. But then had double flats and lost spots. We got it fixed and put our heads down and charged. Overall a good day. It was crazy racing with the Spec trucks at the end. We were getting dicey and time was close for a little bit so we just sent it. At the end it pretty much blew up so the last few miles we could only go five miles an hour. So it feels damn good to be here. I’m super happy with how my Polaris RZR worked today, along with all the SCI guys for pitting me. Happy to be here. Next on the agenda is the SCORE Baja 500. 

Empecé tercero en mi categoría y me puse al frente desde el principio. Al principio tenía el aire limpio. Pero luego tuve dos pinchazos y perdí posiciones. Lo arreglamos, nos concentramos y atacamos. En general, fue un buen día. Al final, fue una carrera de locos con los camiones Spec. Nos pusimos inestables y el tiempo se nos ajustó un poco, así que simplemente lo dejamos todo. BRANDEN SIMS, No. 1886 (Second in class.) - - It was the San Felipe 250. It was brutal. I don’t care what anyone says, this is the toughest race I do all year and I do a lot of races. The other thing is the pace is so fast. I didn’t take a drink of water until I got to the finish line. It was a great day. The wind was nice. The weather was nice. But the course was brutal as always. A great course. But hard on equipment and bodies. And all the whoops. I lost a rear axle and nursed it to the finish. We came in physically second but we started almost last in our class so we should be good.

 

Fue la San Felipe 250. Fue brutal. Digan lo que digan, es la carrera más dura que corro en todo el año, y corro muchas. Además, el ritmo es rapidísimo. No bebí agua hasta llegar a la meta. Fue un día genial. El viento era agradable. El tiempo era agradable. Pero el recorrido fue brutal, como siempre. Un gran recorrido. Pero duro para el equipo y los cuerpos. Y todos los problemas. Perdí un eje trasero y lo mantuve hasta el final. Quedamos segundos físicamente, pero salimos casi últimos de nuestra categoría, así que deberíamos estar bien.

 

MAX EDDY JR., No. 1841 (Third in class.) - - It was a brutal course. It deteriorated pretty bad. You have to sprint the whole time and it is hard to do that when the course is so rough. But we are here. We had a couple small issues that set us back a little bit. Some driver error. It looks like we finished third. All-in-all a great day. Our Polaris RZR R ran great, our pit stops, our BFGoodrich tires, we had no issues. Glad to be here. The pace that the side-by-sides are running is so fast. You can’t have one issue.

 

Fue un circuito brutal. Se deterioró bastante. Hay que esprintar constantemente y es difícil hacerlo con un circuito tan accidentado. Pero aquí estamos. Tuvimos un par de pequeños problemas que nos retrasaron un poco. Un error del piloto. Parece que terminamos terceros. En resumen, un gran día. Nuestro Polaris RZR R funcionó de maravilla, nuestras paradas en boxes, nuestros neumáticos BFGoodrich... no tuvimos ningún problema. Me alegro de estar aquí. El ritmo al que van los side-by-side es rapidísimo. No se puede tener un solo problema.

WAYNE MATLOCK, No. 1871 (Fifth in class.) - - I’ve had better days, but we are here and we made it to the finish line fourth physical UTV across the line in our class. We had a lot of little issues here and there in the second half of the race. It could have been worse. We got here and we are looking forward to the SCORE Baja 500 and getting back up front. Any day you are at the finish at the SCORE San Felipe 250 is a good day. The sun is out and we are next to the beach. It’s a good day. The course was super fun. I love all the washes. SCORE did a great job. No complaints with the course. It was rough and it is supposed to be rough. It’s off-road racing. And I love it. SCORE San Felipe 250 is always my favorite race. The fans are awesome. Everyone is great down here. We had a good time. We can’t wait to do good next year. 

 

He tenido mejores días, pero estamos aquí y llegamos a la línea de meta como el cuarto UTV físico en cruzar la línea en nuestra clase. RICKY ARSLANIAN, No. 1835 (Sixth in class. Ricky Arslanian started and drove to race mile 91. Brian Cooper drove from race mile 91 to the finish.) - - CO-DRIVER BRIAN COOPER said: It was a good day, no problems, no flats, just ran a clean race. That was our plan, just to run a clean race. We just slowly picked off people that were broken. It was rough. This is a fun course. It wasn’t as rough as some of the previous SCORE San Felipe races, but true to San Felipe form it is rough. It is chewed up. We got nervous at the end thinking we would run out of fuel. Our team killed it. This is our hobby. We don’t do this for a living. We do this for fun. All of us take time off work and their families. This is a big deal for us. We are stoked. All our guys are stoked. I’m happy for all these guys that do everything for those of us that get to drive.

 

Fue un buen día, sin problemas, sin pinchazos, simplemente hicimos una carrera limpia. Ese era nuestro plan, simplemente hacer una carrera limpia. Poco a poco fuimos superando a los que estaban rotos. Fue duro. Este es un circuito divertido. No fue tan duro como algunas de las carreras anteriores de SCORE San Felipe, pero fiel a su estilo, es duro. Está desgastado. Al final nos pusimos nerviosos pensando que nos quedaríamos sin combustible. Nuestro equipo lo arrasó. Este es nuestro hobby. No nos dedicamos a esto para vivir. Lo hacemos por diversión. Todos nos tomamos tiempo libre del trabajo y de nuestras familias. Esto es muy importante para nosotros. Estamos encantados. Todos nuestros chicos están encantados. Me alegro por todos estos chicos que hacen todo lo posible por quienes conducimos.

 

  CLASS 10 (Limited, sealed engine, single or two-seaters)

FRANCISCO VERA, No. 1000 (First in class.) - - I drove section 110 to the finish. The first section was driven by my brother Alexis Vera. We started in seventh place. At race mile 110 they gave the car over to me in third place behind Cuevas and Yee. We drove like always with the same strategy. A really chill and intelligent race. We began our attack after the first half of the race. We started catching up to our competitors. We had problems with the transmission, but zero flats. It was a clean race. Things went well besides the transmission that went out at race mile 200.

 

o maneje de la section 110 a la meta la primera section la manejo  mi hermano Alexis Vera. Arrancamos a séptimo lugar a 110 me lo entregaron a tercero atrás de Cuevas y Yee. Manejamos como siempre la misma strategia. Una carrera tranquila inteligente y a comensar a atacar después de la mitad de la carrera fuimos alcanzando ahi los competidores. Tuvimos problemas con la transmission pero zero poncha duras. Todo bien una carrera limpia acepción a la transmission que fue a la Mila 200.

  

MAXIMILIANO YEE, No. 1014 (Second in class.) - - Max started the race and I got on at mile 260. We had a couple of stops with Max getting a flat, and I had a stop that took me about 5 minutes, but apart from that, everything went really well, We had a clean run. The course was really difficult but it’s a SCORE San Felipe 250, so it’s fast and pedal to the metal. The 250 is its own course. The washes were fine and Watamote was chill. A lot of rocks since we started pre-running last Saturday. Today the course was completely different with new rocks and new whoops, new trails you have to really watch the car so nothing happens to your car. We’re going for the championship this year. See you at the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Arrancó el Max y yo me subí a la Mila 260 y tuvimos unas paradas. Se poncho el Max y yo una tascadita  perdimos unos cinco minutos pero aparte de eso todo muy bien una corrida muy limpia la pista está difícil pero es una SCORE San Felipe 250 entonces rápida y pata fondo. La 250 tiene su pista, los arroyos estaban bien, el watamote tranquilon. Muchas piedras desde que empezamos a recorrer el sábado pasado a hoy pista completamente diferente con nuevas piedras nuevas whoops, caminos nuevos te vas cuidando el carro que no pase nada. Vamos por el campeonato. Nos vemos en la SCORE Baja 500.

 

  PRO UTV FI (two-seat Forced Induction, OEM engine UTVs)

PHIL BLURTON, No. 2944 (First in class.) - - I love San Felipe. This has been a race we have struggled with in the past, but today everything clicked and flowed. There is a millions lines out here, and Jeff, my navigator, was on point. We started 23rd in our class and it looks like unofficially we are first. We passed a lot of cars today. We never got out one time. Just stopped for fuel. We get terrible fuel mileage with all these sand washes. We are finally getting this new Can-Am figured out. There were a lot of bumps. I joked that I got eight concussions today out there. We are racing the whole SCORE season.

 

Me encanta San Felipe. Esta ha sido una carrera que nos ha costado mucho antes, pero hoy todo salió perfecto. Hay un montón de carreras por aquí, y Jeff, mi copiloto, estuvo impecable. Empezamos 23.º en nuestra categoría y parece que, extraoficialmente, somos los primeros. Hoy adelantamos a muchos coches. No salimos ni una sola vez. Solo paramos a repostar. Conseguimos un consumo de combustible terrible con todos estos lavados de arena. Por fin estamos aprendiendo a manejar este nuevo Can-Am. Había muchos baches. Bromeé diciendo que hoy sufrí ocho conmociones cerebrales. Estamos compitiendo toda la temporada de SCORE.

 

KADEN WELLS, No. 2935 (Second in class.) - - It was good. We started last in our class. We physically came in second. We will see on corrected time. We didn’t get out of the car. Just got gas. The course had a mix of everything: whoops, sand washes, rocks. It was rough. But our Bilstein shocks, Method wheels, Tensor tires handled it well.

 

Estuvo bien. Salimos últimos de nuestra categoría. Quedamos segundos. Lo veremos en el tiempo compensado. No salimos del coche. Solo cargamos gasolina. El circuito tenía una mezcla de todo: baches, arenales, rocas. Estaba duro. Pero nuestros amortiguadores Bilstein, llantas Method y neumáticos Tensor lo aguantaron bien.

 

JORGE CANO, No. 2910 (Third in class. ) - - I drove the whole race alone with Marco Valenzuela as navigator and we are really happy. We took off in second and we got third physical and I think on time as well. We are really happy. It is the first time we get to run with the Papas and Beer team and with a great family. To be a part of the experience that Mr. Rodrigo Ampudia along with his sons an Pati. It was a really good race except at the beginning, at like race mile five, we lost our skid plate and it really made us suffer.  Unfortunately, later I caught a big whoop at mile 150 and that made me hit a tree and the tree got stuck under the car. We had to stop and get the tree out. It cost us about five to six minutes and in that time Kaden passed us. At race mile 90, Phil also passed us. But, it was a really technical and beautiful course all the way to the end here at the finish.

 

Yo maneje solo junto con Marco Valenzuela de co piloto toda la carrera y estamos muy contentos arrancamos segundo físico, llegamos en tercero físico y creo de tiempo también. Muy contentos la primera ves que nos toca correr con el equipo Papa’s and beer con una gran familia y tener parte de esa experiencia que nos da don Rodrigo Ampudia junto con todos sus hijos y Pati. Una carrera muy buena no mas que al principio como la Mila 5 se nos Caio el skid plate luego eso nos iso sufrir mucho, desafortunadamente luego agarre un whoop bien fuerte en la Mila 150 y eso me ISO golpear un árbol se me metió un árbol debajo del carro tuvimos que parar y tuvimos que sacar el árbol perdimos como unos 5 o 6 minutos alli nos pasó Kaden y Phil nos paso en la 90 pero bueno fue una carrera muy técnica muy bonita asta aquí a la meta.

 

CHARLES MANCHESTER, No. 2963 (Fourth in class. Clinton Schue is DOR.) - - It was really dusty. The suspension is still not dialed in so we babied it and we got it here. The start was fun. The second half was horrible. At the SCORE Baja 1000, in the last 130 miles we went through six axles. No axle issues this time.

 

Había mucho polvo. La suspensión aún no estaba afinada, así que la cuidamos hasta que llegamos. La salida fue divertida. La segunda mitad fue horrible. En la SCORE Baja 1000, en las últimas 130 millas, gastamos seis ejes. Esta vez no tuvimos problemas con los ejes.

 

  PRO STOCK UTV (Stock UTV’s FI or NA) 

FRANCISCO BELTRAN, No. 3921 (First in class.) - - It went well for us in the morning. I started driving and my son was navigating. We had a couple of time-consuming problems in the morning with the car protecting itself and limiting us at no more than 75 miles an hour. We got to mile 70 before we realized our error. After that, we were able to really go. Fortunately, we kept pushing along and by mile 80 we were in second place. From that point on my son, Diego, got in the drivers seat and Lalito was navigating. I closed it out and drove the last 35 to 40 miles.

 

Nos fue bien en la mañana iniciamos yo en el volante y mi ojo fue navegando. Tuvimos contratiempos en la mañana el carro se nos protegía. No nos daba mas de 75 Milas por hora y fuimos asta la Mila 70 asta que nos dimos quinta de nuestro error y a partir de Ali  ya pudimos empezar a correr. Afortunadamente pudimos seguir avanzando y cuando llegamos a la Mila 80 íbamos al segundo lugar y de ahi para delante se subió mi hijo Diego y Lalito a navegar y a dar le. Yo cere aquí al ultimo las ultimas 35 o 40 Milas.

 

SCOTT BERGEN, No. 3908 (Second in class.) - -  It was a great race day. Very minimal issues. We did lose our GPS early on. Thankfully we pre-ran and remembered most of the VCPs. I feel great about our finish. I think we won by 20 minutes, so we have room if we did miss a VCP. No flats, no mechanical issues. The Can-Am was flawless. This is stock, right out of the box, stock everything, stock suspension. And I didn’t drive perfect, but this took a licking and kept on ticking.

 

Fue un gran día de carrera. Tuvimos muy pocos problemas. Perdimos el GPS al principio. Por suerte, corrimos con antelación y recordamos la mayoría de los VCP. Me siento muy bien por nuestro resultado. Creo que ganamos por 20 minutos, así que tenemos margen si nos perdemos un VCP. Sin pinchazos ni problemas mecánicos. El Can-Am estuvo impecable. Es de fábrica, recién salido de la caja, con todo de fábrica, suspensión de fábrica. Y no conduje perfecto, pero aguantó bien y siguió funcionando.

 

ANTONIO DE LOERA, No. 3918 (Third in class.) - - I started this morning. It’s my first overall race and it’s my first SCORE race. They had told us this was something really difficult but we’ve accomplished it. I have a great navigator, my best friend Diego Munoz, and it’s our first race we’ve done in general and the first of many. The course was really cool. There were a lot of rocks that you had to be really careful with. The race course was a great challenge at the level of SCORE. In the style of a great San Felipe course. We are very happy to be here, we came all the way from Guadalajara. We are paisas, we would like to give thanks to all of our sponsors and this great team behind us. They were chasing and making sure we had fuel. The car was great. We will see you all at the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Yo inicie esta mañana es mi primera carrera overall es mi primer carrera en SCORE. Nos habían  dicho que era algo muy difícil pero lo logramos. Tengo un gran co piloto mi mejor amigo Diego Munoz y es la primera carrera que tenemos en general y la primera de muchas. La pista muy padre avian las rocas donde uno se tiene que cuidar se, retadora al nivel de SCORE. Un gran estilo de San Felipe, Estamos muy contentos de estar aquí venimos desde Guadalajara. Paisas somos, queremos dar le las gracias a todos mis patrocinadores y a este gran equipo que está por acá. Nos estuvieron atiendo chance nos estuvieron rellenando la gasolina. El caro estuvo genial y nos esperamos a la 500.

 

ANTONIO MENDEZ, No. 3959 (Fourth in class.) - - CO-DRIVER EDMUNDO FERNANDES said: Antonio Mendez took the car to mile 115 and he got there in a good position. We just changed out two CV joints there, and we had a few flats, but after that everything went well. I took the car from race mile 115 to the finish line. My section had a lot of rocks. San Felipe always throws a lot of things at you.  Whoever doesn’t know San Felipe has never ran it. The car ran really well but there were a couple of details, more human error on my part than anything, hitting too many rocks and getting a flat. We plan on running the whole series.

 

Antonio Mendez saco el carro hasta la Mila 115 y llega en buena posición nomas cambios dos cb joints ahi, y tuvimos un par de ponchadas pero de ahi en adelante todo bien. Yo tome el carro del la Mila 115 asta la Meta mi section tenia mucha piedra. San Felipe siempre te tira muchas cosas el que  no sabe San Felipe nunca lo a corrido.  El carro se porto muy bien algunos detalles pues mas humanos de mi parte, golpes a piedras y se poncho el coche. Pensamos acer todo el campionato.

 

KEVIN CLYDE, No. 2969 (Fifth in class) - - It went really smooth today. We didn’t have any problems, did not get out of the car, no flats. The course was good, rocky in areas, whoops in areas. Like every SCORE Baja race. Some technical, rock-crawling areas. We just kept it moving. We will see you at the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Hoy todo fue muy bien. No tuvimos ningún problema, no nos bajamos del coche ni pinchamos. El circuito estuvo bien, con zonas rocosas y con baches. Como en todas las SCORE Baja. Algunas zonas técnicas, con mucha roca. Simplemente seguimos adelante. Nos vemos en la SCORE Baja 500.

 

  PRO UTV (two-seat Normally Aspirated, OEM engine UTVs)

RICARDO TORRES, No. 1984 (Second in class.) - - We got a flat tire at race mile 25. Driver error. Thank you to Pedder Racing guys for doing an awesome job. Then I had to chase down Bolton and Eva, so it will be tight. It was a technical course, lot of rocks, a lot of silt. I like the washes, I can really push it there.

 

Se nos pinchó una rueda en la milla 25 de la carrera. Error del piloto. Gracias a los chicos de Pedder Racing por el excelente trabajo. Luego tuve que perseguir a Bolton y Eva, así que será un circuito estrecho. Era un circuito técnico, con muchas rocas y mucho limo. Me gustan los lavados, puedo ir a fondo allí.

 

  CLASS 5 (Unlimited Baja Bugs, VW concept engines allowed)

ELI YEE, No. 500 (First in class.) - - My son and I ran the race together. He started until race mile 160 where I got in and brought it to the finish line. It is our third consecutive SCORE San Felipe 250 and our sixth overall. It’s the course from 20 years ago, the Classic course. It was an excellent course, an excellent route. Really fun. There were fast parts, technical parts and overall difficult, like Matomi wash and the rocks. We didn’t have any problems and we would like to first thank SCORE for the race and all of the organization. We’d also like to thank Yokohama for the tires and being our primary sponsor and King Shocks. We want to dedicate this race to my co-pilot who passed away last week, Miguel Lay. May he be with God. We dedicate this one to him. Many thanks to everyone and all the team that helped. We didn’t have any problems, everything was well organized. We’ll see you at the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Corrimos mi hijo y yo. El inicio asta la Mila 160 y ahi la agarré yo asta la meta. Es nuestra tercera San Felipe 250 consecutiva y nuestra sexta. Y la pista de hace 20 años la pista clásica las 250. excelente pista excelente routâ. Bien divertida partes rápidas técnicas y sobretodo difícil ahí en el matomi wash en las piedras. No tuvimos ningún problema y queremos agradecer A SCORE primeramente por la carrera y toda la organización y a Yokohama por las llantas que es nuestro principal sponser, king shocks y queremos dedicarle esta carrera a mi copiloto que falleció la semana pasada Miguel Lay que este con dios esta se dedicamos a el. Y pues muchas gracias a todos y todo el equipo que ayudo. No tuvimos ningún problema todo bien organizado. Nos vemos en la SCORE Baja 500.

 

  CLASS 7 (unlimited, six-cylinder, production appearing trucks or SUVS) 

DANIEL CHAMLEE, No. 702 (First in class.) - - It was a great race. Truck ran perfect. No flats. BFGoodrich tires, King shocks, everything was smooth out there. It was a lot of fun. It was a fast course. Rough, but fast. Obviously we had to climb over some boulders in the washes, but these 40-in tires just walk over them. It was a good race. When the truck is working right, it is a lot of fun. I did manage to avoid most of the rocks and not bend any wheels nor get any flats.

 

Fue una gran carrera. La camioneta corrió perfecta. Sin pinchazos. Llantas BFGoodrich, amortiguadores King, todo iba suave. Fue muy divertido. El recorrido fue rápido. Duro, pero rápido. Obviamente, tuvimos que trepar algunas rocas en los arroyos, pero estas llantas de 40 pulgadas simplemente las superan. Fue una buena carrera. Cuando la camioneta funciona bien, es muy divertida. Logré evitar la mayoría de las rocas y no doblar ninguna rueda ni pinchar.

 

  CLASS 1/2-1600 (VW-powered, single or two-seaters to 1600cc)

ERIC PAVOLKA, No. 1625 (First in class.) - - It was typical San Felipe. Very rough, very dusty. This is a brand new car so we had a couple little bugs to work out. But for being a brand new car, I’m very happy. There were a lot of sand washes, so it felt like we were struggling all day, but actually we were doing OK. One flat tire.

 

Fue un San Felipe típico. Muy accidentado y polvoriento. Es un coche nuevo, así que tuvimos que solucionar un par de pequeños problemas. Pero para ser un coche nuevo, estoy muy contento. Había muchos lavados de arena, así que parecía que íbamos con dificultades todo el día, pero en realidad lo hacíamos bien. Se pinchó una rueda. 

 

  HAMMER TRUCK (Open custom 4WD Rock Crawler)

ANDREW MCLAUGHLIN, No. 4493 (First in class.) - - This is one of the most fun races I have had in a long time. We are rock crawlers. You guys like the whoops. The car goes good in the whoops. I’m still waiting on the rocks we were told were here. I never saw any of them. It was good. We lost one belt and one tire. No big deal. Easy day. We love Mexico. We love coming down here. We love the people.

 

Esta es una de las carreras más divertidas que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Somos trepadores de rocas. Les encantan los whoops. El auto va bien en los whoops. Todavía estoy esperando las rocas que nos dijeron que estaban aquí. Nunca las vi. Estuvo bien. Perdimos una correa y una llanta. No fue gran cosa. Un día fácil. Nos encanta México. RAFAEL CASTILLO, No. 1103 (First in class.) - - It was an incredibly tough race. I didn’t expect it to be that rough. We pre-ran and I was hoping it would get better, but it actually got worse. The car ran amazing. Flemate built an amazing car. We are ready for the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Fue una carrera increíblemente dura. No esperaba que fuera tan dura. Corrimos antes y esperaba que mejorara, pero empeoró. El coche corrió de maravilla. Flemate construyó un coche increíble. Estamos listos para la SCORE Baja 500.

 

MOTORCYCLES

    PRO MOTO UNLIMITED (400cc or more) 

TYLER LYNN, No. 7x (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER CARTER KLEIN said: It started off really good. Tyler started and rode really well through the dust and got us into first physical place and handed me the bike clean. I rode it to race mile 210 and handed it to Ryan and he brought it home. We had a little tip-over, but nothing major, I got right up. I had a few rock sections that were pretty fun. The day went super smooth and we are stoked.

 

Empezó muy bien. Tyler arrancó y rodó muy bien entre el polvo, nos colocó en primera posición física y me entregó la bici sin problemas. La usé hasta el kilómetro 210 de la carrera y se la entregué a Ryan, quien la llevó a casa. Tuvimos un pequeño vuelco, pero nada grave; me levanté enseguida. Tuve algunas secciones de rocas que fueron muy divertidas. El día fue genial y estamos encantados.

 

ARTURO SALAS JR, No. 11x (Second in class..) - - It’s the SCORE San Felipe 250 and we prepared alot for this race. We are here. We are happy to be at the finish line, all safe and sound. First things first. Unfortunately we got second place but we are happy to be here at the line. We are not going to give up. We are for sure going to try to get the rest of the wins this year.

 

Es la SCORE San Felipe 250 y nos preparamos con esmero para esta carrera. Estamos aquí. Estamos contentos de llegar a la meta, sanos y salvos. Primero lo primero. Desafortunadamente, quedamos en segundo lugar, pero estamos contentos de estar aquí en la meta. No nos rendiremos. Sin duda, intentaremos conseguir el resto de las victorias este año.

 

  PRO MOTO LIMITED (less than 400cc)

BHASKAR RAMANI, No. 127x (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER THORN DEVLIN said: This was awesome. This was my first time racing the SCORE San Felipe 250. I have done the SCORE Baja 1000 twice so it was cool to do this one. A little bit different style of racing than the 1000. We had a rough start and when I got the bike we were in last place so I had some dust to fight, trying to watch for rocks and push when it was clear. I had a good day; I had one little get-off right at the end. I was only supposed to do 40 miles, but I got into physical first place so the guys wanted me to continue, so that was an honor. Now I go get cleaned up and race stateside tomorrow in another series and hope for the same results.

 

Esto fue increíble. Esta fue mi primera vez corriendo la SCORE San Felipe 250. He corrido la SCORE Baja 1000 dos veces, así que fue genial participar en esta. Un estilo de carrera un poco diferente al de la 1000. Tuvimos un comienzo difícil y cuando conseguí la moto íbamos últimos, así que tuve que luchar contra el polvo, tratando de estar atento a las rocas y empujar cuando estuviera despejado. BRAYAN VERDUZCO, No. 151x (Second in class.) - - The course was really rocky and difficult but we’re all here and in one piece, there weren’t any falls or any problems so everything went well. It was a really good race ultimately. We were in first place all race until about a few miles from the finish. The bike started giving us trouble but that’s Baja. We are a physical second place. Now we just wait for the final results.

 

Fue una carrera ultimada mente Íbamos en primera toda la carrera . En las últimas Milas aquí para llegar a la meta la moto nos empezó a fallar pero ni modo eso es la Baja y nos quedamos con un segundo físico y ahora es nada más esperar los resultados. Al final fue una carrera muy buena. Estuvimos en primer lugar toda la carrera hasta unos kilómetros antes de la meta. La moto empezó a darnos problemas, pero así es la Baja. Somos segundos físicamente. Ahora solo nos queda esperar los resultados finales.

 

  PRO MOTO 40 (Riders over 40 years old)

SHANE ESPOSITO, No. 400x (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER RENE MAGANA said: It was a good race, a fast race. We didn’t have any problems; all four of us rode clean. It was fast, a lot of rocks, San Felipe terrain is always a challenge. But we did enough pre-running that we felt good. It was a good race.

 

Fue una buena carrera, una carrera rápida. No tuvimos ningún problema; los cuatro corrimos limpios. Fue rápida, con muchas rocas; el terreno de San Felipe siempre es un desafío. Pero hicimos suficiente pre-carrera y nos sentimos bien. Fue una buena carrera.

 

  PRO MOTO 30 (Riders over 30 years old)

JASON ALOSI, No. 308x (First in class.) - - It was a good race. We had a couple of crashes, but nothing that kept us from moving on. Everyone is healthy and hopefully we ended up with the win. All three us riders did well. The goal was to get a win here today and take it to the SCORE Baja 500 and ultimately the SCORE Championship.

 

Fue una buena carrera. Tuvimos un par de caídas, pero nada que nos impidiera seguir adelante. Todos estamos sanos y esperamos haber ganado. Los tres pilotos lo hicimos bien. El objetivo era conseguir una victoria hoy y llevarla a la SCORE Baja 500 y, en última instancia, al Campeonato SCORE.

 

  PRO MOTO IRONMAN (Solo Riders) 

LARRY SERNA, No. 715x (First in class.) - - Wow, well I feel really good, with a little bit of energy, but I think it’s more adrenaline than energy. It was truly a really demanding course. It’s like Rat Salt was saying, Iron Man is 70 percent mental and 30 percent physical. I’ve been working on my mental fitness to take on this challenge and the results have surprised me. I feel really good and God willing, we will be here for the SCORE Baja 500.

 

Wow, pues me siento muy bien con algo de energía pero pienso que es mas adrenalina que energía. Pero fue una pista muy demandante la verdad. Como estaba diciendo Rat salt correr Iron Man es 70 por ciento mental y 30 por ciento físico la verdad es que estuve trabajando en mi mental fitness para tomar este challenge y pues el resultado me sorprendió. Me siento muy bien me siento animado y esperemos en Dios que me de la oportunidad de ser la SCORE Baja 500 también.

 

AUSTIN EDDY, No. 729x (Second in class.) - - It was a really good day for me. I had planned on charging early in the morning and make a lot of passes early. I stuck to that plan and it went smooth. I felt really good up until about 150 miles ago and my clutch cable snapped. That wore me out trying to focus so I didn’t make any mistakes. If I would have gone down I would not have been able to continue. But I never went down once. There were a lot of rocks that could get you so I had to focus and be on my A game. Coming back on the highway, the wind pushing against me, really did me in.

 

Fue un día realmente bueno para mí. Había planeado cargar temprano por la mañana y adelantar mucho temprano. Seguí ese plan y todo salió bien. Me sentí muy bien hasta hace unos 240 kilómetros, cuando se me rompió el cable del embrague. Eso me agotó intentando concentrarme para no cometer errores. Si me hubiera caído, no habría podido continuar. Pero no me caí ni una vez. Había muchas piedras que podían golpearte, así que tuve que concentrarme y dar lo mejor de mí. Al volver a la autopista, con el viento en contra, me dejó fatal.

 

KYLE RAMIREZ, No. 797x (Fourth in class.) - - This race is as tough as they say. This is my first Ironman race. I co-drove in a Class 12 car and I’ve been riding motocross my whole life so I thought I might as well get on one. I took a spill early on and broke my water, so at every stop, I had to get water. The bike did great. I’m happy to be at the finish line.

 

Esta carrera es tan dura como dicen. Es mi primera carrera Ironman. Corrí un coche de Clase 12 y llevo toda la vida en motocross, así que pensé que me gustaría subirme a uno. Me caí al principio y rompí aguas, así que en cada parada tuve que ir a buscar agua. La moto funcionó de maravilla. Estoy contento de haber llegado a la meta.

MIKE PRUNTY, No. 500x (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER MIKE CHASTAIN said: My section went great. I was a little nervous at first but I got inspired by all the people in the sand dunes at the end. It was a great race.

HAROLD HARRIS, No. 600x (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER Mike Whitman said: It was a wonderful race. The race was faster than we thought it would be. Not too many problems. One of our guys fell down but he didn’t get hurt. So we are really happy. Everything went well. We look forward to this whole season.

 

Fue una carrera maravillosa. Fue más rápida de lo que esperábamos. No hubo muchos problemas. Uno de nuestros chicos se cayó, pero no se lastimó. Así que estamos muy contentos. Todo salió bien. Tenemos muchas ganas de que llegue esta temporada.

ESTEVAN RAMIREZ JR, No. 1a (First in class.) - - It was a good race. It was a fast course. It went flawless. The team put up a good bike, the riders did a great job. It was good, stable, fast pace. We had four different riders and it was just gas and go for all of us.

 

Fue una buena carrera. El recorrido fue rápido. Todo salió perfecto. El equipo armó una buena moto y los pilotos hicieron un gran trabajo. El ritmo fue bueno, estable y rápido. Teníamos cuatro pilotos diferentes y todos íbamos a por todas.

FILIBERTO GARCIA, No. 211x (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER ANDREW PINZON said: It was really fun, really rough. There was a lot of technical sections, a lot of sharp rocks. We had to be carefully and ride smart. We had a battery problem and had to kick start it. We also missed a Baja pit but luckily some spectators helped us out with fuel.

 

Fue muy divertido, pero muy duro. Había muchas secciones técnicas y muchas rocas afiladas. Tuvimos que tener cuidado y pilotar con inteligencia. Tuvimos un problema con la batería y tuvimos que arrancar a patadas. También nos saltamos un pit de Baja, pero por suerte algunos espectadores nos ayudaron con combustible.

 

  SPT QUAD

MARIO JOAQUIN NAVARETTE, No. 116a (First in class.) - - CO-RIDER RICARDO HOYOS said: The race went really well. It was a really complicated and difficult course. It was a little different from our normal because this is our first time racing a Baja SCORE race. It went really well. It was a really good experience; something really different. Everything went well. Our only issue was when one of our teammates broke his arm during pre-running 3 days ago. So only three of us were able to ride today. We will see you all at the SCORE Baja 500.

 

La carrera estuvo muy bien, una pista muy complicada, muy fea, pero todo bien. Muy diferente a lo normal es la primera vez corriendo una carrera Baja SCORE. Fue una muy buena experiencia algo muy diferente, pero estuvo bien. El único problema fue que mi compañero se quebró el brazo ase 3 días recorriendo y tuvimos que correr nada más 3 pilotos. Nos vemos en la SCORE Baja 500.
