ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico— Dakar Rally legend Toby Price, Australia, claimed victory in the Method Race Wheels Qualifying for the 6th SCORE Baja 400. Driving the No. 46 Chevy Silverado Mason AWD Team Australia, Price topped the charts as part of Round 3 of the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship, taking place this week in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Price completed the 3.3-mile qualifying course in 3 minutes and 56 seconds, securing pole position for Mason Motorsports in all three SCORE races this season. Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola previously won the Method Race Wheels Qualifying at the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250, while Christopher Polvoorde set the fastest time in qualifying at the BFGoodrich 57th SCORE Baja 500.
With this result, Toby Price will start at the front of the SCORE Trophy Truck field—and overall among the four-wheeled vehicles—this Saturday, September 13. He will once again team up with fellow Australian Paul Weel in pursuit of their first overall win in the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship.
Alan Ampudia, Ensenada, Mexico, posted the second-fastest qualifying time at the Rancho Grijalva race course in Ojos Negros, clocking in at 4 minutes and 2 seconds behind the wheel of his No. 10 Ford Raptor Mason AWD Papas and Beer. Ampudia currently leads the SCORE Trophy Truck standings after the first two rounds of the season with 228 points.
Christopher Polvoorde, Heber, Utah, recorded the third-fastest time in Method Race Wheels Qualifying, finishing in 4 minutes and 3 seconds in his No. 94 Mason AWD Ford Raptor, powered by Optima Batteries, Ford, and AutoZone.
Ricky Johnson, El Cajon, Calif. was the fastest in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legends class and seventh overall, driving the No. 1L Ford Raptor Mason Vildosola Racing. He will team up with Gustavo Vildosola Sr. Mexicali, Mexico, to tackle the grueling 427.64-mile race course.
Johnson’s official time was 4 minutes and 8 seconds. He will be aiming for his 15th consecutive win in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legends class—reserved for drivers aged 50 and over. Johnson will start the race on Saturday, September 13, from Ensenada’s Boulevard Costero, handing the wheel over to “Gus” Vildosola Sr. at race mile 250.
Mikey Lawrence posted the fastest time in the SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD division, finishing in 4 minutes and 14 seconds at the helm of his No. 85T Ford Raptor 1 Nine Industries Lawrence Motorsports.
Jason McNeil, El Cajon, Calif. secured pole position in the Trophy Truck Spec class during Method Race Wheels Qualifying. In a tightly contested battle with Justin Davis and Mike Marsal, McNeil recorded a time of 4 minutes, 17.247 seconds in his No. 234 Ford Raptor TSCO Racing Fiberwerx Racing.
In Class 1, Cody Parkhouse, Long Beach, Calif. led the field with a time of 4 minutes and 25 seconds on the 3.3-mile course, placing within the top 29 overall in a qualifying session marked by high temperatures and widespread media coverage from Ojos Negros.
For the first time in SCORE International history, the qualifying times from all five competing categories—SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD, SCORE Trophy Truck Legends, Class 1, and Trophy Truck Spec—were combined to determine the official starting order for the race.
GREEN FLAG
The official green flag for the desert racers will be waved on Saturday, Sept. 13. Two- and four-wheel motorcycles will begin at 4:15 a.m. PDT, while trucks and cars will start at 9:00 a.m. PDT. The race course will be announced in August, and the elapsed-time race will have a 16-hour time limit to become an official finisher.
It is expected that the overall winners of the race will complete the course in over 6 hours for the trucks and cars, while the bikes could cross the finish line after more than 9 hours of competition.
The race course presents a major challenge: 427.64 miles for Pro Trucks and car classes, 425.41 miles for Pro and Sportsman motorcycle classes, and 415.23 miles for Sportsman car classes.
Overall winners of the SCORE Baja 400 are expected to complete the race in just over 9 hours for bikes and more than 6.5 hours for Trucks and cars. The time limit to officially finish the race is 16 hours.
SCORE International staff will provide extensive live coverage, with Rat Sult serving as the official voice at the Tech Inspection ramp, the start and finish line, and the awards ceremony. Sult is now in his tenth season with the world’s premier off-road racing organization.
Since its debut in 2019, the SCORE Baja 400 was not held in 2020 due to the worldwide health pandemic. However, it resumed in 2021 and has since attracted teams from Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas, who have returned on various occasions to the host city of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, for each edition of the race.
PRE-RUNNING FROM NELSON RANCH
SCORE International reminds all racers and competition teams that course pre-runs are not to be conducted at race speeds. A complete stop must be made at every road crossing along the race route. Participants who fail to respect speed and safety regulations during pre-runs may face time penalties, even before the race begins.
Several SCORE International officials will be stationed at various points along the 427.64-mile race course to monitor racers' speeds during pre-runs. Racers are reminded to drive at moderate speeds on the course—not race speeds—to close fences along the race path and respect populated areas by not exceeding speed limits, including on the highways within the state of Baja California.
Pre-runs are permitted until Friday, September 12, between Ensenada and Ojos Negros (mile 0 to mile 36.40) and from mile 387.42 to mile 398.25. The speed limit one mile before any town or road crossing is 30 miles per hour for all racers.
MORE ENTRIES FOR THE SCORE BAJA 400
A total of 171 race teams have already registered for the 6th SCORE Baja 400, featuring at least one racer from 24 U.S. states, U.S. Territory Puerto Rico, as well as the host country Mexico, Australia, Ecuador, England, Greece, Argentina, India, and New Zealand. It is expected that this number will approach nearly 2180 teams by race week in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
To date, there are 15 SCORE Trophy Truck, 17 SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD, and 7 SCORE Trophy Truck Legends, in addition to 22 vehicles in the Trophy Truck Spec class. The Pro UTV Open class has 19 teams registered, Pro UTV FI has 18, and Pro UTV Stock counts 14 entries. In the motorcycle classes, there are 6 entrys in the Pro Moto Ironman class and 4 in the Pro Moto Limited class.
TECH & CONTINGENCY ROW TOMORROW
Tomorrow promises to be a day-long celebration as SCORE’s popular Contingency Row and Technical Inspection takes place at the start/finish area in Ensenada. The event, a fan-favorite tradition, will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time, while technical inspection, Stella tracking system installation, and transponder checks will continue until 6:00 PM Pacific Time, as part of the final phase of the mechanical review.
On race day, Saturday, September 13, fans will enjoy a dedicated spectator area at the start/finish zone, featuring two giant SCORE video screens broadcasting full race coverage—including the official start, live updates from the course, and finish line interviews with the racers.
For the tenth consecutive year, the ever-charismatic Rat Sult will host SCORE’s live race broadcast, conducting interviews with drivers and SCORE sponsors. Joining him behind the mic for the 6th SCORE Baja 400 in Ensenada will be Kevin Johnson and Eva Hernandez.
Both Contingency row and the main race will be streamed live via SCORE’s official website, offering exclusive coverage along the course, including real-time satellite tracking, aerial drone footage, and onboard cameras showcasing the desert’s top racers. At the SCORE studio in El Cajon, California, a broadcast team featuring Brandon Johnson, Wes Miller, Heidi Steele, and Rich Minga will provide race commentary and insight throughout the event.
REGISTRATION FOR DRIVERS AND MEDIA
The historic Riviera Social, Civic, and Cultural Center, located in the heart of Ensenada’s tourist district, will once again serve as the official venue for many activities during the SCORE Baja 400. Driver registration will conclude tomorrow in Salón Rojo, with hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific Time.
No new driver registrations will be accepted on Friday after 3:00 PM Pacific Time.
Media registration for SCORE will take place in Salón Rojo of the Riviera Social, Civic, and Cultural Center on Friday, September 12, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific Time.

Ensenada, Baja California, México – La leyenda viviente del Rally Dakar, Toby Price, de Australia, ganó la calificación Method Race Wheels de la edición 6 de la SCORE Baja 400 a bordo del SCORE Trophy Truck Mason de doble tracción Número 46 del Team Australia, como parte de la Fecha 3 del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2025 de SCORE International que se realizará esta semana en Ensenada, Baja California, México.
Price recorrió la pista de 3.3 millas en 3 minutos y 56 segundos, con lo que la empresa Mason Motorsports se ha quedado con la “pole position” en las 3 carreras de SCORE de este año, con Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola ganando la calificación Method Race Wheels en la edición 38 de la King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 y Christopher Polvoorde alcanzando el tiempo más veloz en la misma actividad de la edición 57 de la BFGoodrich SCORE Baja 500.

Christopher Polvoorde, de Heber, Utah, logró el tercer mejor tiempo en la calificación Method Race Wheels con 4 minutos y 3 segundos a bordo de su Ford Raptor Mason Número 94, patrocinado por Optima Optima Batteries/Ford/Autozone.

Y en la Clase 1, Cody Parkhouse, de Long Beach, California, fue el mejor con un tiempo de 4 minutos y 25 segundos en la pista de 3.3 millas, dentro del top 29 en forma overall para la calificación que contó con altas temperaturas y diferentes medios de comunicación realizando la cobertura en Ojos Negros.
Por primera vez en la historia de SCORE International, se mezclaron los tiempos de las 5 categorías participantes, SCORE Trophy Trucks, SCORE Trophy Trucks 2WD, SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend, Clase 1 y Trophy Truck Spec, para definir el orden de arranque para una carrera.
BANDERAZO DE SALIDA
El banderazo de arranque para los corredores será este Sábado 13 de Septiembre. Las motocicletas de 2 y 4 llantas arrancarán a las 4:15 de la mañana del Bulevar Costero, tiempo del Pacífico, los carros arrancarán a las 9 de la mañana, tiempo del Pacífico. La ruta de la carrera será dada a conocer en próximas semanas, y los corredores contarán con 16 horas de tiempo límite para poder cruzar la meta.
Se espera que los ganadores absolutos de la carrera realicen la travesía en más de 6 horas en el caso de los carros, y las motocicletas, podrían cruzar la meta tras más de 9 horas de competencia.
Una ruta de 427.64 es el desafío para las clases profesionales de carros, y de 425.41 para las clases profesionales y sportsmans de motocicletas, además de una pista de 415.23 para las clases sportsmans de carros.
Se espera que los ganadores overall de la SCORE Baja 400 hagan en el caso de las motocicletas, más de 9 horas, y los carros más de 6 horas y media. El tiempo límite para que los corredores terminen la carrera es de 16 horas.
El staff de SCORE International contará con una cobertura impresionante en vivo, con Rat Sult como la voz oficial en la rampa de la revisión mecánica, salida y meta, además de la ceremonia de premiación, quien está en su décima temporada con la mejor organización de Off-Road del mundo.
Tras su debut en 2019, la SCORE Baja 400 no contó con acción en 2020 ante la pandemia mundial de salud por el Covid-19, regresando a partir de 2021 y capturando la atención de equipos de Asia, Europa, Oceanía y América, quienes han visitado en diferentes ocasiones la ciudad de Ensenada, Baja California, México, sede oficial de la carrera en sus diferentes ediciones.
A RECORRER DESDE EL RANCHO NELSON
SCORE International le recuerda a todos los corredores y equipos de competencia que los recorridos no son a velocidad de carrera. Se debe de realizar un alto total en cualquier cruce de camino en la ruta de la competencia, y las personas que no respeten las normas de velocidad y seguridad en los recorridos, pueden ser sancionados con tiempo, inclusive antes de arrancar la carrera.
Diferentes oficiales de SCORE International estarán en varios puntos de la ruta de 427.64 millas, para supervirsar a los corredores en cuanto a su velocidad durante los recorridos, recordando que deben de manejar por la pista a velocidades moderadas, no de competencia, cerrar cercos por donde pasará la carrera y respetar las zonas donde hay población, no exceder límites de velocidad, así como en las carreteras del estado de Baja California.
Hasta el Viernes 12 de Septiembre se podrá recorrer desde Ensenada hasta Ojos Negros, milla 0 hasta milla 36.40, así como de la milla 387.42 hasta la milla 398.25. La velocidad límite para una milla antes de un pueblo o cruce de carretera es de 30 millas por hora para todos los corredores.
MÁS INSCRITOS PARA LA SCORE BAJA 400
Ya se cuenta con 171 equipos registrados para la edición 6 de la SCORE Baja 400, contando con al menos un corredor de 24 estados de los Estados Unidos, además del territorio estadounidense de Puerto Rico, el anfitrión México, Australia, Ecuador, Inglaterra, Argentina, Grecia, India y Nueva Zelanda, con lo que se espera que ese número llegue a 180 equipos para el arranque de la carrera este sábado en Ensenada, Baja California, México.
Hasta el momento ya son 15 SCORE Trophy Trucks, 17 SCORE Trophy Trucks 2WD y 7 SCORE Trophy Trucks Legend, además de 22 vehículos en la clase Trophy Truck Spec. La clase Pro UTV Open cuenta con 19 equipos inscritos, la Pro UTV FI cuenta con 18 registros y la Pro UTV Stock tiene 14. En las motocicletas, se cuenta con 6 inscritos en la clase Pro Moto Ironman, y 4 en la clase Pro Moto Limited.
MAÑANA ES LA REVISIÓN
Mañana se llevará a cabo se vivirá una fiesta sin igual a lo largo del día, con la revisión mecánica e inspección técnica en el área de arranque y meta en Ensenada. El horario para esta actividad tan popular de SCORE, será de las 8 de la mañana a las 5 de la tarde, tiempo del Pacífico. La inspección técnica, instalación de sistemas Stella y chequeo de transponders, será de las 8 de la mañana a las 6 de la tarde, tiempo del Pacífico, en la parte final de la revisión mecánica.
Se contará a lo largo del día de carrera, Sábado 13 de Septiembre, con un área especial en la zona de salida y meta, que incluirá dos pantallas gigantes de SCORE para que los aficionados puedan ver la cobertura de la carrera, desde el banderazo de salida, acción a lo largo de la ruta, así como entrevistas en la meta con los corredores.
Por décimo año en fila, el carismático Rat Sult estará como anfitrión de SCORE en la transmisión en vivo de la carrera, quien realizará entrevistas con corredores y patrocinadores de SCORE. Kevin Johnson y Eva Hernández serán los compañeros de micrófono de Sult en la edición 6 de la SCORE Baja 400 en Ensenada.
La revisión mecánica y la competencia serán transmitida en vivo, mediante la página de internet de SCORE, misma que incluirá cobertura exclusive a lo largo de la ruta, con rastreo de corredores mediante un dispositivo satelital, tomas aéreas de dron y cámaras a bordo con las estrellas del desierto. En el estudio de SCORE en El Cajón, California, se contará con Brandon Johnson, Wes Miller, Heidi Steele y Rich Minga narrando las diferentes incidencias durante la carrera.
INSCRIPCIONES PARA CORREDORES Y PRENSA
El histórico Centro Social, Cívico y Cultural Riviera, en el corazón turístico de Ensenada, repetirá nuevamente como sede oficial de muchas actividades en la SCORE Baja 400. Mañana finalizará el registro de corredores en el Salón Rojo con horario para esta actividad de 8 de la mañana a 4 de la tarde, tiempo del Pacífico.
No se permitirán nuevos registros de pilotos el Viernes, después de las 3 de la tarde, tiempo del Pacífico.
El registro de medios de comunicación de SCORE será en el Salón Rojo del Centro Social, Cívico y Cultural Riviera durante este Viernes 12 de Septiembre, con horario de las 8 de la mañana a las 4 de la tarde.
